Santanero Zine, a publication written by members of the artist community in Santa Ana, is having a fun contest just in time for Halloween, the Dia de los Muertos and the upcoming Nov. 6 General Election.  Santanero would like artists to submit their paintings/drawings of any mayoral candidate of their choice as a zombie.

The deadline is October 25th. Along with their submission, artists can include a 40 to 50 word bio and/or their contact info.

If you can’t draw or paint, you can click here to zombify any picture, just for fun, as I did with the picture of mayoral challenger David Benavides, as seen above this post. That only takes a few minutes to do!

Click here to check out Santanero’s Facebook page.  Click here to contact their editor, Eric, via email.

I can’t wait to see the results of this contest!  Imagine zombie Lupe Moreno!  Aye Dios!

  1. That is not cool! Tasteless! (You might want to consider showing pics of all candidates if you are going to stoop that low! Where is your picture of Onofre with maggots crawling out of her nose? or you buddy Pulido? Would Zombie Pulido still have perfect Hair?

  2. How about doing the same with downtown business people? Would love to see Irv Chase, Sam Romero, and others.

That was a pretty weak graphics example Brian.
However, I heard that Santanero Zine was in fact doing a contest for best illustrations of Pulido, Benavides and all of the candidates running for office. Admin, make sure that you hit up Santanero for info.

I hope the cops don’t get all nervous if some of us sit there at the council meeting Monday with sketchpads and charcoal. Haaaaaa haaaaa haa.

When I read this I knew this piece was coming.

  4. Out of rehab, posting my collumns, still nothing in print! 12 Steps baby.

Dan and Chris have been great to me. they talked about when Chris first learned he was dying of AIDS he did what any good liberal would do:

He went to work for the county, so society could pay for his care! Thats not what I want to do, but if my problem continues, I suppose I could write for Noberto, he is after all another discraced OCR guy.

But, I am just so confused, Alicia what should I do? I promise I won’t drive anymore. I promise.

Oh I forgot what I was supposed to talk about. My 12 steps. God Grant Me Serenity…….

ANDY G. (and Dan & Chris).

A dentist and a psychic. What a combo!

No , it is not that I am psychic …….it is just that you are predictable.

  6. Exactly! Alvarez doing Irv Chase and vice versa. All of Santa Ills would be compounded all night long.

  7. I thought this was a picture of David Benavides after his wife Emily pulling a Elen Nordegren!
