Yesterday, police officers investigated a theft on Watermarke Place, where an Apple MacBook and AirPods were stolen from a vehicle, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Luckily, Apple’s “Find My” feature was working “mac-nificently.” The officers were able to track the items to Santa Ana and spoke to a man in the ping’s location. After hitting the “Play Sound” button, officers located the AirPods chirping like an angry bird in his backpack.

Julian Charles White, 43, was arrested for the possession of stolen property, possession of drugs, and false impersonation by giving a different name.

The MacBook and AirPods were returned to the victim.

Tips to Prevent Vehicle Theft During the Holidays

  • Never leave valuables in plain sight: Electronics, wallets, and gifts attract thieves.
  • Take items with you: If possible, remove laptops, phones, and bags when leaving your car.
  • Lock your doors and windows: Double-check before walking away.
  • Park in well-lit, busy areas: Thieves prefer dark, isolated spots.
  • Use anti-theft devices: Steering wheel locks or alarms can deter break-ins.
  • Enable tracking features: Use “Find My” or similar apps for phones and laptops.
  • Don’t leave spare keys in the car: Thieves often check glove compartments and under seats.
  • Stay alert during holiday shopping: Criminals target crowded parking lots.
