The City of Santa Ana’s is unveiling their new Little Saigon monument with a ceremony that will take place on Friday, January 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on West First Street, west of South Harbor Boulevard.

The Little Saigon Monument honors Vietnamese heritage and contributions to the community, and it replaces a similar monument that was damaged by a car crash in 2008 (see the picture above).

Why it took 16 years to replace the damaged sign is a question the City has not yet answered.

The unveiling will kick off Vietnamese Tết events for Lunar New Year as the City of Santa Ana prepares to host its inaugural Tết Lunar New Year Festival on February 3.
