Recovered Body Identified as Missing Laguna Beach Swimmer

SANTA ANA, Calif. – (February 19, 2015) – On Wednesday, February 18, 2015, a body was discovered near the rocks at Shell Beach, in the area of Monarch/Three Arch Bay. The body has been positively identified as Anthony Parnell, 18, Las Vegas. The area Parnell’s body was discovered is approximately one-half mile south of 1000 Steps Beach, the area he was last seen.

At approximately 3:55 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s Department Harbor Patrol deputies assisted Orange County Lifeguards, Laguna Beach Police and Fire Departments with the recovery of the body. Emergency response personnel recovered Parnell’s body and transported it to the Dana Point Harbor Patrol Office where they were met by a deputy corner from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Coroner Division.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, February 20, 2015, to determine an official manner and cause of death. No further information is available.
