Community Alert: Mayor Pulido Honors Sandi Jackson with the Exceptional Citizen Award

Mayor Pulido will present the Exceptional Citizen Award to Sandi Jackson for receiving the 2016 Outstanding Philanthropist Award. The Outstanding Philanthropist Award is presented at the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, which recognizes the great contributions that philanthropy makes to our community and honors individuals, businesses, and support organizations that are active in the philanthropic community. In 1986, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed November 15th as National Philanthropy Day, which is a special day set aside for the purpose of recognizing the great contribution philanthropy makes to our society.

Jackson holds degrees in occupational therapy and psychology, specializing in pediatric neurology and learning disabilities in children, but her heart has always been focused on philanthropic causes. Her past community involvements include: serving as the Chair for the Memorial Medical Center Foundation Board; President and ball chair for the OC Baron’s League for American Cancer Society; Co-Chair of Chapman University’s Athletic Campaign Committee; member of the Executive Planning Committee for the opening of the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall; and a member of Angels of the Arts.
For over 16 years, Sandi, has supported the Orangewood Foundation by serving on its board and executive committees.

Jackson is a currently a member of Orangewood’s 44 Women for Children and is co-chairing the annual Holiday Tea fundraiser for the Academy. She served as Steering Committee Co-Chair to develop the innovative new Charter School, the Samueli Academy, where she now serves as Board of Trustees Chair.
