Thursday, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Sabot Lane and Maddox Drive, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

An adult male victim was found with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and transported to a local hospital. In speaking with the victim, he stated the suspect was not known to him.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit later positively identified and contacted the suspect, Taylor Cosner, 27, of Huntington Beach, who was arrested and booked at the HBPD jail on one count of attempted murder.

To ensure the safety of those in the immediate area, updates were sent out to the neighborhood via the City’s Nextdoor platform as the search and investigation took place. Due to the severity of the case, Detectives refrained from releasing widespread information at that time to avoid compromising the apprehension of the suspect.

Detectives believe a male in the area walking a dog may have witnessed the incident. They urge anyone with information about this case to call Detective R. Chen at (714) 536-5653. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact the OC Crime Stoppers at 1 (855) TIP-OCCS (1-855-847-6227).
Please note that the investigation is still ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
