Garden Grove Halloween burglars stole a safe full of cash, guns and other valuables from a home

Criminals often strike during holidays, when they know you might not be at home. That happened this Halloween when a home in Garden Grove was burglarized and the suspects made off with a large safe.

The burglary happened at the 13400 block of Gardenia Avenue (near Lewis Street) at around 8:54 p.m. on Thursday night, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

Police officers were alerted by a residential burglary alarm. the respnding police officers found that the burglars had forced entry into the house, cut the electrical power and stole the 700 lb. safe that contained hundreds of thousands of dollars inside, as well as guns, jewelry and other valuable items, according to the victims.

Home security camera video showed one of the burglars pushing the family’s massive safe down the driveway of the family’s home before the two suspects lifted it into the trunk of their getaway vehicle. 

In addition, from studying another angle of security footage and comparing notes, the victims discovered the culprits followed them to a Halloween party 20 minutes from their home and disabled their vehicle, slashed a tire, then returned to the neighborhood to strike, according to KTLA.

The suspects left the scene in a dark gray Chrysler Pacifica minivan with no license plates, according to the police.

The suspects were described by witnesses as adult males wearing black hooded sweatshirts. One was also wearing gray pants, black and white shoes, a black bandana and black gloves. The other was wearing blue pants, black shoes, a black face mask and black gloves.
