Druggie couple arrested after fleeing from police officers in Irvine

On Monday afternoon, police officers working together in a unit tried to conduct a traffic stop on a PT Cruiser after observing a traffic violation near Walmart, according to the Irvine Police Department.

As the vehicle pulled into a parking lot, the male driver jumped out and ran off. One officer ran after the driver and quickly detained him with the help of nearby officers.

The second officer stayed with the car since a passenger occupied it. The passenger slid into the driver’s seat and fled in the vehicle.

The officer engaged in a short pursuit of the vehicle before it stopped.

Brandon Scott Kirkpatrick, 36, of Garden Grove, and Kassidy Jones, 29, of Aliso Viejo, were arrested for possessing narcotics and for fleeing from officers.

Kirkpatrick also had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.
