City of Santa Ana Community Alert: City and Santa Ana School District to Celebrate Willard Joint-Use Recreation Facilities with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
SANTA ANA, CA (October 18, 2013) – With an innovate approach to provide new recreational facilities to students and the community, the City of Santa Ana and the Santa Ana Unified School District will celebrate the opening of a Joint-Use Recreational Facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Willard Intermediate School, located at 1342 N. Ross St. Santa Ana, CA.
A state-of-the-art all-weather synthetic field with sport lights and a rubberized track around it, basketball courts, a playground, and a restroom have been built for the use of Willard students during the school day and the Santa Ana community after school hours and on weekends. This unique joint-use partnership is a benefit to both the students and the families from the nearby neighborhoods.
The project was paid for by a grant received by the City from the Park Development and Community Revitalization program funded by the state’s Safe Drinking Water and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006 better known as Proposition 84. The award selection process was highly competitive where over 500 applications were received by the state government and only 62 applications around the state were approved.
