A Stage 2 Emergency has been declared by the California Independent System Operator (ISO). Rotating power outages are expected.

Today’s record heat has already caused more than 10,000 people to lose power in Los Angeles County, where temperatures reached 118 degrees Saturday.

The Southern California Edison company is urging consumers to:

  • Use your microwave instead of oven
  • Close your blinds
  • Hang dry your clothes
  • Set thermostats to 78
  • Unplug appliances not in use
  • Use your fan instead of your A/C
