ANAHEIM, Calif. (June 9, 2023) – The Anaheim Police Department and the Placentia Police Department have arrested ten (10) suspects responsible for a multi-city robbery series that spanned six (6) months.
Between June and December of 2022, thirteen (13) robberies occurred in Anaheim, Buena Park, La Habra, Orange, Placentia, Santa Ana, and Stanton. The suspects were armed with a firearm during most of the robberies. The robberies occurred as the victims attempted to sell property using online marketplaces or platforms.
The Placentia PD led the investigation and was assisted by the Anaheim PD’s Gang Unit. Both agencies worked collaboratively with numerous Orange County law enforcement agencies to identify the suspects who were responsible for the robbery series. The investigation revealed nine (9) of the ten (10) suspects resided in Anaheim and were members of an Anaheim criminal street gang. A Placentia PD Detective obtained search warrants for ten (10) residences and ten (10) arrest warrants for the suspects.
On June 8, 2023, the Anaheim PD SWAT Team, Buena Park PD SWAT Team, and North County SWAT Team, along with Orange County Probation Department and Detectives from the Anaheim, Buena Park, La Habra, Orange, Placentia, and Santa Ana Police Departments served the search and arrest warrants.
During the operation, nine (9) juvenile suspects and one (1) adult suspect were arrested without incident. Two (2) firearms, narcotics, and stolen property were recovered during the search warrants. The juvenile suspects and the adult suspect, who was 17 years old at the time of the crime(s), were lodged at Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery and other charges.
Detectives believe there may be additional victims of unreported robberies. Detectives encourage victims to contact their local law enforcement agencies if they have been a victim of a robbery or other crime. Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to contact Placentia PD Detective Martinez at 714-993-8113 or Anaheim PD Investigator Rothans at 714-765-1466, or the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or www.occrimestoppers.org.
