Last Friday, an Irvine resident arrived home from vacation and found an unknown woman hiding in her closet holding her kitchen utensils.

When the unwelcome visitor fled the apartment, she ditched her house slippers, and the victim ran after her.

The resident discovered her TV, credit cards, purses, sunglasses, and other property had been stolen from her apartment. The suspect also used the victim’s credit cards to make unauthorized purchases.

Officers identified a neighbor as the possible suspect and obtained a search warrant.

On Sunday, Wendy Wilkinson, 43, of Irvine, was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property. The victim’s property was recovered in the suspect’s home and storage unit.
