Another wealthy Orange County resident has been targeted by an armed robber, at the South Coast Plaza.

At approximately 8:40 p.m, on Sunday, Sept. 22, police officers responded to South Coast Plaza after getting a call about a victim who was approached by a male suspect in a mall parking lot, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

The suspect was attempting to rob the victim. As they scuffled the suspect shot the victim in the leg and then fled before police officers could arrive.

The victim was treated by police officers at the scene until Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue took over treatment and then transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening wound.

A white Lamborghini SUV, possibly owned by the victim, was towed from the scene, according to NBC News, which also reported that the robber was trying to steal the victim’s car and his Rolex watch as well.

The Costa Mesa police officers, detectives and CSI are diIigently investigating this isolated incident and at this time there are no other known threats to the immediate area.

The Costa Mesa Police have also been in contact with the victim’s family and wish him a speedy recovery.

You think they would tighten up security at South Coast Plaza after all these incidents perpetrated by criminals coming down the freeway from Compton, South Central Los Angeles, etc. like a venereal disease. It’s hard to fathom why they just continue on as if this is business as usual when it certainly is not. All these stories point to a new thing happening. South Coast Plaza was a very safe place for the middle-class and wealthy to visit until very recently. This is just an opinion, so draw your own conclusions, but I would think security needs to be upgraded for this very upscale shopping, dining, and business district.
