A fight broke out early this morning, at around 4 a.m., between a pedestrian and a bicyclist at the Santa Ana Riverbed, that resulted in the death of a man, according to the O.C. Register.

A pedestrian allegedly assaulted a bicyclist with a deadly weapon, according to the OC Sheriff.

The Sheriff’s Department did not identify the combatants.

The attack happened along the Santa Ana River trail at Chapman Ave.

The assault remains under investigation.

Most folks are not at the Santa Ana River Trail at 4 a.m. so the assumption is that the suspect and the victim were likely both homeless transients.
