There was not a curfew in Santa Ana on Sunday night so people were still out and about after 10 p.m. One of them, a man who was crossing the street at Bristol Street and Edinger Ave., a very busy intersection, at about 11:40 p.m. was unfortunately struck by a hit-and-run driver.

That intersection is next to Mater Dei High School and several local restaurants including a Jack-in-the-Box, El Gallo Giro, Mariscos El Primo, Subway Sandwiches and Taqueria Los Arcos. There are homes located all around the commercial businesses.

The man ended up with two broken legs, according to the O.C. Register.

The victim was walking in a crosswalk when a vehicle headed south on Bristol struck him, according to the SAPD.

The victim ended up at a local hospital, where he is expected to survive.

SAPD police investigators found a piece of a vehicle at the crash scene and are planning to check surveillance videos from nearby businesses.
