A Garden Grove resident found a hidden camera in the front yard bushes, possibly used to surveil the neighborhood, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

The resident did not know when the camera was placed, no property crimes have been reported in that area, and other communities have had similar incidents.

The Garden Grove Police Department’s detective bureau is investigating this to determine if there are connections to any other cases.

Burglars, mostly from South America, have been using such cameras to spy on residents to determine when their homes are vacant so they can commit burglaries. They tend to focus on high-end homes and steal jewelry, cash and electronics.

Great job on the resident who was vigilant and spotted the device. The Garden Grove Police Department encourages you to continue to have situational awareness and if you See Something, Say Something!
