1st UPDATE: Victim has been identified as Nathan Joe Alfaro (23) Westminster.

Summary: Thu, 3/3/16 10:37pm, Officers responded to Underground DTSA (Nightclub) at 220 East Third St. reference a call of a stabbing. The male victim, Nathan Joe Alfara (23) was inside the venue listening to punk music, when an altercation ensued and the suspect, Juan Angel Rivera (21) stabbed the victim in the upper torso. Man stabbed to death at a Top Acid Thursday punk rock show at Underground DTSA

It has happened again. A young man, Nathan Joe Alfaro, of Westminster, was murdered in Downtown Santa Ana, this time at a concert venue called Underground DTSA, on Thursday night, according to the O.C. Register.

A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed when a fight broke out at about 10:30 p.m., inside Underground DTSA, which is located at 220 East Third St., in Santa Ana’s East End Promenade.

The fight broke out as the second of five punk rock bands scheduled to perform Thursday night was playing. “It was just one psycho dude who started a mosh pit,” musician Laena Geronimo said, according to KTLA. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA POLICE- HOMICIDE DETECTIVES ARREST TWO FOR THE 2010 MURDER OF JEFFREY LEE CHUNG

On 10-2-2010, a robber shot and killed a 23-year-old man in a Santa Ana parking garage. Irvine resident Jeffrey Lee Chung was at a bar with some friends in downtown Santa Ana and walking to a parking garage, when he and a friend were confronted by two suspects, one of them armed with a handgun.

Chung was shot when he refused the suspects’ demand for money. Chung’s friend was unharmed. The suspects, described as male Hispanics, fled the scene on foot. Officers responding to a “shots fired, man down” call about 1:30 a.m., at 201 W. Third Street, found Chung shot in the upper torso. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Shooting near Proof bar doesn’t mean downtown Santa Ana isn’t safe

Jeffery Lee Chung, 23, of Irvine was shot and killed by a robber, in a parking structure nearby a bar called Proof, in downtown Santa Ana, this morning at about 1:30 am, according to ABC News. Chung’s friend ran off. Chung was shot when he resisted the robbers, who got away.

While ABC News is calling this a setback for Santa Ana, I am calling it a random act of violence.

Murder happens. In fact, an 81-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly beating to death his 94-year-old roommate at a Laguna Hills nursing home, authorities said Saturday, according to the L.A. Times. This happened at 11:20 pm on Friday.

I am still going to tonight’s Santa Ana Artist Village Art Walk with my wife and daughter. And we are going to the Dia de los Muertos exhibit at Calacas too.

But a word to the wise. If someone tries to rob you, give them what they want. Losing your life over a wallet just isn’t over it.

Our sympathies to the Chung family. I truly hope this tragedy won’t dissuade our friends from Irvine from visiting our exciting and fun downtown.
