Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Santa Ana police tried to stop a vehicle for various violations including no license plate and no seatbelts, according to NBC News.

The driver, a documented gang member who was later identified as Jesus Arturo Martinez, refused to pull over so the police began to pursue his vehicle on local streets at speeds that topped 90 mph. At one point the suspect even drove the wrong way on the street, according to the SAPD.

The police pursuit finally ended at 2050 S. Kilson Drive where the driver and a passenger, Gabriel Becerra Mendoza, 26, jumped out of the car and attempted to run away.

A Santa Ana resident named Roxana Cedillo pulled out her cell phone and shot a video of the police officers as they tried to arrest the combative driver. The police officers had to use force, including a Taser, according to Fox News. Eventually they were able to arrest the two suspects.

Some in the community are questioning the use of force in this arrest. However these gang bangers clearly did not have any regard for the community as they went about stealing a car, evading arrest and possessing drugs and a replica gun. The suspects are now facing multiple felony charges.

  1. I’m torn on this one. Sad part is that this documented gang member, who was in a stolen car, driving like as asshole during a time where kids are out on the street playing, with drugs and a “replica” hand gun (which we all know he uses for intimidation and/or robberies) will get a pay out for this. Maybe the cop used excessive force, maybe he was pissed because he knew what this guy did was dangerous and put countless lives at risk. Maybe his adrenalin got the best of him. Hopefully, if we’re lucky it was these guys third strike and they’ll be away for a long long time.

  2. Very good job officers. I would have done the same thing if I was chasing those BAD BOYS. But yet they cry like little girls!

  3. At one point the suspect even drove the wrong way on the street, according to the SAPD. Since when is it illegal to drive wrong way pn the street .i thought it wasb only for Qne Way Streets???. Crooked Cops..

    1. They probably meant the the driver was driving against traffic on the street. That of course could result in a head-on collision.
