Advisory: Ongoing gang investigation results in three arrests and seizure of drugs and weapons
Costa Mesa, Calif. – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) arrested three on Friday, May 25, 2018, and seized drugs and weapons in connection to a continued enforcement stemming from an ongoing gang investigation.
On May 18, 2018, CMPD posted the following on social media about an enforcement by Gang Investigators:
Between May 11, 2018, and May 16, 2018, CMPD Gang Investigators conducted surveillance and enforcement on white supremacist gang members in the 2200 block of Fordham Drive, which resulted in a seizure of heroin, ammunition, cocaine, prescription medication and drug paraphernalia and the arrest of 10 individuals.

The following is subsequent enforcement to the ongoing investigation:
On May 25, 2018, CMPD Gang Investigators continued their enforcement and surveillance on subjects associated to the residence on the 2200 block of Fordham Drive. At approximately 1:30 p.m., Gang Investigators, detectives, and patrol officers conducted a traffic stop along the 2400 block of Newport Boulevard. David Len Mcafee, 33, Sacramento, was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant. Brian Jay Bishop, 35, Trinidad, Texas, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of a concealed/loaded firearm while possessing narcotics, and possession of a firearm when not registered owner. He has since posted bail and was released. During that arrest, CMPD seized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, ammunition and a loaded semi-automatic handgun.
That same day, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Gang Investigators and patrol officers conducted a second traffic stop along the 2300 block of Harbor Boulevard. They seized approximately $12,000, heroin, approximately a quarter pound of methamphetamine, a digital money counter, a taser and two expandable batons. Norman Michael Powers, 53, Midway City, was arrested for possession of heroin for sale, possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of billy clubs, possession of a taser, and resisting a peace officer. He is in custody on $250,000 bail.
