Advisory: TRAFFIC INVESTIGATORS ARREST DRIVER IN FATAL COLLISION FOR VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER AND DUI-GREAT BODILY INJURY/DEATH

Arrested: Ryan Anthony Morris (26), Santa Ana

Booking Charges: Vehicular Manslaughter and DUI Causing Great Bodily Injury and or Death.

Deceased/Victim: Shane Spear (23), Santa Ana

On 07/29/2016 at approximately 8:37 AM, officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle collision at Bristol St. and MacArthur Blvd. Several calling parties indicated the vehicle collided with a pole, overturned and there were passengers trapped inside the vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found four occupants in the vehicle. Two passengers were unconscious and unresponsive and trapped in the vehicle. OCFA responded to the scene and extricated the two trapped passengers. The four occupants were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment. A male passenger died from the injuries he sustained in the collision. The female passenger sustained life threatening injuries and remains on life support.

A male drove his Subaru westbound on MacArthur Blvd. and made an unsafe turning movement. The driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a light pole which caused the vehicle to overturn.

The driver of the Subaru was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.
