Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley had a minor outpatient surgery, last week, related to sun exposure. She is at home, healing, and is not attending the January 11th Board of Supervisors meeting or any meetings or events for the next few weeks. She will continue to work from home and plans to attend the January 25th meeting of the Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor Foley’s team are continuing their work to address critical issues in our community, especially COVID-19 recovery, hosting vaccine clinics, distributing test kits, and supporting small businesses during this unfortunate surge.

Other initiatives include participating in the County’s” Point-in-Time” Count, our Fly Friendly program (to reduce airplane noise over neighborhoods), and climate action planning, especially efforts to protect our coast.

“Since I was a child, I’ve enjoyed spending time at the beach. Unfortunately, like many women my age, I wasn’t aware of the importance of sunscreen and, as a girl, I spent long days baking under the sun at the pool and beach. I encourage new parents to protect their kids from sun damage and for everyone to wear sunscreen, daily. As parents and working professionals, we often delay our own medical care. I also encourage residents to visit their doctor or dermatologist, regularly, to check for sun damage and take immediate action if there is a concern. Make time for your self-care and healthcare.” advised Supervisor Foley.
