Community: Andalucia Apartments Selected as Orange County’s Top Affordable & Workforce Housing Development at Annual Awards Ceremony

SANTA ANA, CA – The Andalucia Apartments, the first workforce housing community developed in the City of Santa Ana’s Harbor Mixed-Use Corridor Plan (the Harbor Plan), was selected as Orange County’s Affordable & Workforce Housing 2017 Development of the Year at the annual Orange County Affordable Housing Awards event.

Hosted by the Affordable Housing Clearinghouse, Kennedy Commission and the Orange County Community Housing Corporation, the AHA event recognizes and celebrates exceptional affordable housing accomplishments for lower income households living in Orange County.

A public/private development between the City of Santa Ana, C&C Development and Orange Housing Development Corporation, the recently completed, 70-unit Andalucia Apartments features affordable rents ranging from 50 percent to 110 percent of area median income (AMI), and the three-bedroom apartments are designed for the needs of larger, growing families.

“The vision of the City of Santa Ana’s Harbor Mixed-Use Corridor Plan is for a more livable and sustainable Harbor Boulevard corridor created through new housing and mixed-use developments,” said Santa Ana Councilmember Juan Villegas. “Andalucia represents an important achievement in fulfilling that vision by improving the social and economic fabric of the surrounding neighborhoods and community through the development of a vacant lot into a vibrant, family-oriented housing property.”

The Spanish-inspired Andalucia buildings are designed to complement and enrich the area’s neighborhood aesthetics and architectural character. C&C Development and Orange Housing Development worked closely with the City of Santa Ana Planning and Housing departments to ensure that the City’s vision for the Harbor Plan was fully realized by Andalucia’s exemplary design and construction, location, quality and affordability.

“The Andalucia Apartments community fills a growing demand in Orange County for affordable housing, especially for families,” said Todd Cottle, principal of C&C Development. “Although Orange County may never build enough workforce housing to satisfy all of the demand, projects such as the Andalucia Apartments are an important step forward and we are honored to have the quality of this property recognized by our industry peers.”

The architecturally distinctive property features a 3,195 square-foot community center that houses several multi-purpose rooms including a kitchen, computer lab, and lounge area. The community center provides families with a community oriented environment in which to socialize, learn, and play. The property also encompasses ample outdoor space featuring a tot lot, BBQ pavilions, and picnic seating, and is served with a combination of surface and tuck-under parking.

  1. Why haven’t any shootings been reported for weeks?… I know you can’t expect us to believe there hasn’t been any. No readers have said anything?

    1. Parking in that neighborhood was bad before, now its even worse! Also there is alot of prostitution in that very corner.

  2. The parking on that street was already horrible now it is even worse! The surrounding is not as pretty as they make it out to be with all the prostitution going on on that very corner.
