Community: Pacific Electric Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Ceremonia de Inauguración del Parque Pacific Electric – 1/20/18

The dream of a new park in a much needed area in Santa Ana is now a reality. The public is invited to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Pacific Electric Park located on the corner of Orange and McFadden Ave. The ceremony will take place Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the new park.

“Various neighborhoods came together years ago and asked the City to build a unique park adjacent to the old Pacific Electric train right of way and now that community dream is coming true,” said Mayor Miguel Pulido. The design of the Pacific Electric Park received input from various members of the community including leaders from the Eastside, Madison Park, Wilshire Square, and Heninger Park neighborhood associations. “These groups of neighborhoods have been working on championing the development of the Pacific Electric Park in an effort to provide a very much needed outdoor recreati onal area for children, seniors and families in an area of our community that lacked in park open space within reasonable walking distance” said Mayor Pro Tem Michelle Martinez.

The new park design is themed after the historic Pacific Electric Train, which once passed through the area and was the largest electric railway system in the world in the 1920s. At the corner of Orange and McFadden Avenue, this new park can be easily accessed from Maple and Orange streets. The park includes a playground, exercise equipment, community garden, restroom, drinking fountain, park benches, trees, native plants and shaded areas.

Take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony of this great park that will provide the community with a great opportunity to live a happier, active and healthy lifestyle. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact Community Service Supervisor Erendira Moreno at (714) 571-4285 or email Emoreno@santa-ana.org.
