Orange resident arrested in connection with the theft of military equipment from the Tustin Army Reserve Center

On January 16th, 2025, police detectives, with the assistance of the joint Irvine-Tustin SWAT Team, Army Criminal Investigations Division, and OCSD Bomb Squad, served search warrants in the City of Orange, according to the Tustin Police Department.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Alfredo Reyes Jr., a 40-year-old resident of Orange, for the theft of government equipment that occurred earlier this month at the Tustin Army Reserve Center.

As a result of the investigation, all Humvees were accounted for and additional military equipment originally stolen during the incident was located.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. unknown suspects entered a storage warehouse at the Army Reserve Center in Tustin.

Multiple storage lockers were discovered with locks removed and missing gear. An attempt was made to cut a lock to uniform storage, however it was unsuccessful. A fence was cut to gain access to a military vehicle parking lot where three Humvees were stolen. The suspects left the area at an unknown time.

The Army informed the Tustin Police Department that there was no known loss of weapons or ammunition other than what is listed in a flyer about the incident.

The following military eqiupment was confirmed to be missing:

  • 3 Humvees (1 armored) with the admin numbers listed below painted on the hood
  • Armored Humvee Model: M1151A1 ADMIN: HHC-06
  • Cloth Doors Humvee Model: M1097 ADMIN: HQ-61
  • Cloth Doors Humvee Model: M1097 ADMIN: HQ-81
  • 8 machine gun vehicle mounts
  • 7 free-standing machine gun tripods
  • Medical equipment
  • 40 pairs of binoculars
  • 18 bayonets
