SANTA ANA, CA – At the January 28 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Supervisors unanimously approved $742,000 in Prop 69 funds to support local law enforcement, the OC Crime Lab, and the District Attorney’s Office in enhancing their DNA programs.

This funding includes critical financial support for 13 police departments across the county, including the Anaheim, Tustin, and Irvine Police Departments in District 3, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Orange County District Attorney. The allocations cover Rapid DNA kits, maintenance and hazardous waste disposal, DNA storage refrigeration, investigative genetic genealogy program proficiency testing, and other essential resources for law enforcement operations.

”I am proud to provide this essential funding for our Sheriff’s Department, District Attorney, and city police departments to enhance their DNA programs,” said Supervisor Wagner. ”This vital technology is key to identifying criminal activity and apprehending perpetrators. I am always in favor of ensuring our local law enforcement is equipped with the most advanced crime-fighting tools to continue protecting and serving our communities.”

These investments underscore Supervisor Wagner’s continued commitment to maintaining public safety and leveraging cutting edge technology to support Orange County law enforcement’s criminal justice programs.
