ANAHEIM, Calif. – One juvenile suspect is in custody after shooting at police officers, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Anaheim Police Officers contacted several subjects on the 300 block of W. Guinida Ln. During the contact, a suspect fired several shots at the officers and fled on foot. Fortunately, the officers and members of the community were not struck by gunfire. Numerous officers responded to the scene, including the Department’s Tactical Response Group (TRG), and searched the area for several hours. During the search, detectives observed the suspect’s mother driving away from the area and broadcasted information to surrounding law enforcement agencies. Shortly after the broadcast, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department located and arrested the suspect in the City of Mission Viejo without incident.

The suspect was ultimately lodged at Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer and several other offenses. Because of his age, no additional identifying information will be released.

Detectives are not releasing additional information due to the ongoing investigation. Anaheim PD Gang Unit Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 714-765-1900 or contact Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or www.occrimestoppers.org.
