On December 10th, 2024 at approximately 1 p.m., two police officers responded to the I-5 freeway and Artesia Boulevard to assist California Highway Patrol for reports of a male adult possibly armed with a weapon walking in freeway lanes, according to the Buena Park Police Department.
Officers located the male adult on Artesia Boulevard which ultimately led to an officer involved shooting.
The male adult was injured, treated on scene and transported to UCI Hospital where unfortunately, he passed due to his injuries.
The investigation is being handled by the California Department of Justice as well as the Buena Park Police Department.
The identity of the male adult is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
