On Sunday, March 26, 2023 at approximately 10:27 PM, Garden Grove Police Department officers responded to the 10300 block of Lampson Ave., regarding a stabbing that had just occurred.

During the investigation, the police officers learned a verbal altercation took place between a male subject and the suspect, later identified as Juan Carlos Fernandez Bustos, a 25-year-old of Garden Grove.

The argument escalated into a physical altercation. When the male victim tried to intervene, he was stabbed in the upper torso. This victim was transported to a nearby hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

A 16-year-old female also tried to intervene during the physical altercation. While doing so, she sustained non-life threatening injuries to her hand. She later received medical attention and is in stable condition.
Fernandez Bustos was positively identified and located at a nearby hospital, also with injuries.

The victims’ identities are not being released at this time. This investigation is on going.
