On Sunday, February 26, at 4:52 p.m., a Fountain Valley police officer witnessed a serious traffic collision at the intersection of Euclid and Slater.

A white 2022 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Euclid when it collided with a white 2008 Dodge Caravan which was turning left from Southbound Euclid onto eastbound Slater.

Additional police officers responded to the scene as the Camry was engulfed in flames. The officers were able to pull the 51-year-old driver, a male from Costa Mesa, from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital with significant head injuries.

The 55-year-old driver of the Caravan, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of this driver is being withheld by the O.C. Coroner pending family notification.

Police investigators are working to determine if alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision. Any witnesses to the collision are encouraged to call the Fountain Valley Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481. The incident number is 23-07048.
