Advisory: SAPD Investigating In-Custody Death

Deceased: Male (26) Miami, Florida

On Friday April 20, 2018 at 1:23 PM, Santa Ana Police Officers responded to reports of a male who appeared disoriented and was running into the street in front of cars. The male was also reportedly trying to enter a nearby school.

Officers arrived and located the suspect in front of the school. Officers handcuffed the suspect and requested paramedics for a medical evaluation.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived on scene, treated and transported the suspect to a local regional hospital. During transport to the hospital, the suspect went into medical distress.

The suspect arrived at the emergency room where doctors declared the suspect deceased at 2:38 PM.

The cause of death is pending investigation by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
