Pandemonium ensued at a Santa Ana shopping center, at 17th and Old Tustin Ave., this afternoon when a man who was allegedly armed with a gun was seen pacing outside a Hobby Lobby store, in the parking lot.

The SAPD, assisted by the OC Sheriff, evacuated the stores in the center. The SAPD also closed off all East and Westbound traffic lanes from Mabury Street to Tustin Avenue.

As of fifteen minutes ago the police are trying to negotiate the surrender of the armed man.

The Orange and Tustin police departments have also responded to the scene.

At 9:15 p.m. tonight the SAPD posted this on Twitter – The scene is still active. For those who have left their vehicle parked in the area, we will advise when the scene is clear to recover it.
