Advisory: CITY OF SANTA ANA 2018 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION UNOFFICIAL RESULTS FOR MAYOR & COUNCIL MEMBERS AND CITY MEASURES

Santa Ana, CA – Based on unofficial results posted by the Orange County Registrar of Voters Office at 1:48 a.m., the following are the results thus far with an estimated 418,600 ballots left to count in the County of Orange and for various districts:

MAYORAL CANDIDATES

  • MIGUEL A. PULIDO 14,038 53.66%
  • SAL TINAJERO 12,122 46.34%
  • Under Votes: 2,538
  • Over Votes: 7

CITY COUNCIL, WARD 2 CANDIDATES

  • DAVID PENALOZA 7,143 28.52%
  • SANDRA PENA SARMIENTO 4,760 19.01%
  • MIGUEL “MIKE” GONZALEZ 3,996 15.95%
  • ALFONSO CEJA-VILLA 3,582 14.30%
  • PAUL GONZALES 3,389 13.53%
  • IRMA MACIAS 2,176 8.69%
  • Under Votes: 3,418
  • Over Votes: 241

CITY COUNCIL, WARD 4 CANDIDATES

  • ROMAN REYNA 13,232 53.01%
  • PHIL BACERRA 11,730 46.99%

*NOTE: “Under Vote” is registered if a voter chooses not to vote in that race while an “Over Vote” is recorded if a voter chooses to vote for more than one candidate when asked to only vote for one.

The candidates listed above were nominated by their respective Ward, but elected at-large. The top vote getter for each council seat will serve a four-year term and a two-year term for Mayor. The vote tally for the City’s Measures are also provided. The Orange County Registrar of Voters Office has up to 28 calendar days to certify the election results.

The newly elected and re-elected members are scheduled to be sworn in at a Special City Council Meeting on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA.
