Police and lifeguards rescued a man who drove into a marsh in Huntington Beach

This morning at approximately 8:15 a.m., the Huntington Beach Police and Fire Departments responded to a solo vehicle incident in the Talbert Marsh near PCH and Brookhurst. Upon arrival, the police officers found the vehicle partially submerged and immediately entered the water to initiate the rescue.

Shortly after, Huntington Beach Fire Department lifeguards arrived and entered the waters to assist with extracting the male adult driver, the vehicle’s sole occupant.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

HBFD’s Hazmat team also responded, deploying booms to prevent further fuel contamination in the wetlands and protect the environment.

The California State Parks and Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy also provided assistance as the HBPD continues to investigate the incident.
