An unidentified man tried to break into a house while the homeowners were home, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

The suspect used a large rock to break the front window of the house.

Costa Mesa weekend graveyard police officers responded with emergency lights and sirens and quickly detained the suspect without incident.

The suspect went to jail for felony vandalism and the large rock was collected as evidence.
