The State of California’s eviction moratorium, AB 832, ends on September 30, 2021. AB 832 was passed to provide eviction protections for tenants that were economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tenants received eviction protection by doing the following:
- Provide a written notification to the owner, or property management company explaining that they have not paid the rent because they were financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The written notification must be signed “under penalty of perjury.”
- Pay 25% of any rent owed from September 2020 to September 2021. This must be done before September 30, 2021.
- Tenants are currently protected from eviction for debt accumulated between April 2020 and September 2021 if they have an application in process with a rental assistance program, such as the City’s CARES for Tenants Program.
In response to the end of AB 832, Latino Health Access will be having an informational workshop on AB 832 and the Santa Ana CARES for Tenants Program via Zoom.
