A 14-year-old female, who is a student at Fountain Valley High School, was found to be in possession of the loaded handgun after she walked onto the Westminster High School campus and showed the gun to a student inside a restroom. Staff members were alerted to the armed female and took immediate action by detaining the female and removing the loaded handgun from her person.

Westminster police officers arrived on campus and secured the loaded handgun. It does not appear the female made any specific threats towards school officials or students on campus. The female was taken into custody and subsequently booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall.

The investigation is ongoing and WPD detectives urge anyone who has additional information to contact the Westminster Police Department at 714-548-3212, or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS or by logging on to www.occrimestoppers.org. Callers can remain anonymous.
