On March 22, 2024, at 6:10 a.m., the Santa Ana Police Department received multiple calls regarding a traffic collision in the area of MacArthur Boulevard and Birch Street.

SAPD Officers and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to the scene, where they discovered the collision involved a motorcycle and a vehicle. OCFA pronounced the motorcyclist, a male adult, deceased at the scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was at the intersection of MacArthur Blvd. and Birch St. attempting to make a left turn. As the motorcycle traveled west on MacArthur Blvd., it collided with the vehicle. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation when police arrived.

At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Farhad Naghipour.

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is investigating this incident. Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact Detective K. Briley at (714) 245-8215 or the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division at (714) 245-8200.

  1. So Sad.. and it appears that the car turned in front of the on coming motorcycle. An the motorcycle had the right of way. I fear for those who ride motorcycles for this very reason. One mistake an you can so easily lose your life. Stay safe out there

  2. RIP. Left turn in front of a motorcycle is a common occurrence. Let them finish the investigation, we should not speculate who is at fault.
