On Friday, June 25, 2021, at 9:27 p.m., Santa Ana Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired and a male seen jumping into the backyard of a residence in the 1300 block of W. 6th Street.

Officers were unable to locate the subject or a crime scene.

At 10:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of a male down in the 1300 block of W. 5th Street. Officers located the male unresponsive and not breathing.

Orange County Fire Authority responded and discovered the male sustained an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. Medics pronounced the subject deceased. SAPD Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation.

The circumstances or motive surrounding the male’s death are currently being investigated. The identity of the male is pending identification by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
