There was a traffic collision involving four cars on Wilson Street near Meyer Place yesterday at around 10 a.m., according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

A driver in a white pickup was deemed by police to be driving under the influence (DUI). That driver struck a vehicle and rolled over several times; this caused other vehicles to be hit.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.

The Costa Mesa Police stated that “This is yet another cautionary tale to not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Please be responsible and drive sober – keep the streets safe for everyone.”

Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue handled the accident scene and the injuries.

A DUI with an accident can make any DUI case subject to additional punishment. Driving under the influence (aka DUI or driving while intoxicated), has certain enhancements which can make the case a felony. Even if not a felony, an accident can increase punishment even for misdemeanors, according to the Orange County law practice of Robert Miller & Associates.
