On Sunday, police officers investigated a package theft from an apartment on Spectrum, according to the Irvine Police Department.
The male suspect seems to love everything “post,” including taking postal packages that don’t belong to him. He has tattoos on the right side of his face and on his right hand.
If you recognize this man, please contact Detective Ward at mward@cityofirvine.org.
If the suspect in the Irvine package theft case is arrested, he could face several penalties under California law depending on the circumstances of the crime.
- Mail Theft (if the package was delivered by USPS)
- This is a misdemeanor under California Penal Code § 530.5(e).
- Punishable by up to 1 year in county jail and/or a fine of up to $1,0001.
- Petty Theft (if the value of the stolen items is under $950)
- Also a misdemeanor.
- Punishable by up to 6 months in jail, probation, restitution, or a fine 2.
- Grand Theft (if the value is $950 or more)
- Can be charged as a misdemeanor or felony.
- Felony grand theft is punishable by up to 3 years in prison 3.
- Additional Charges
- If the suspect has prior theft convictions, prosecutors may pursue felony charges even for lower-value thefts.
- If identity theft or fraud is involved, those charges could add more time to the sentence.
In summary, the suspect could face anywhere from a few months to several years in jail or prison, depending on the value of the stolen items, his criminal history, and whether the theft involved mail or private delivery services.
