The Westminster police are searching for a pair of burglary suspects

Two thieving individuals decided to commit a burglary in Westminster and the police are now looking for your help to identify them, according to the Westminster Police Department.

The suspects are a man and a woman. They both appear to be Hispanic. The male suspect was wearing a black sweatsuit with a California Angels logo and white tennie shoes. He also had a black face mask on. The woman was short with her hair in a bun. She was wearing a silver and black jacket, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

If anyone has any information or can help identify this duo, please contact Detective Chavez at CChavez@westminster-ca.gov.

In California, burglary is defined under Penal Code 459 PC as entering a building, room, or locked vehicle with the intent to commit theft or any felony. The penalties for burglary vary based on the degree of the crime:

  1. First-Degree Burglary: This involves burglary of a residence and is always charged as a felony. The penalties include:
    • Felony probation
    • 2, 4, or 6 years in state prison
    • A fine of up to $10,000
  2. Second-Degree Burglary: This involves burglary of a non-residential structure (e.g., commercial property) and can be charged as either a misdemeanor or a felony. The penalties include:
    • Misdemeanor: Up to 1 year in county jail
    • Felony: 16 months, 2 years, or 3 years in state prison

Burglary is considered a serious offense, and the intent to commit a crime at the time of entry is a crucial factor in determining the charges.
