The Garden Grove Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) had been conducting an investigation into a Garden Grove residence possibly being used as a “slap house” or illegal gambling house.

Yesterday, April 4, 2024, with the assistance of the Community Impact Unit (CIU), Gang Suppression Unit (GSU), GGPD K9Unit, Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT), Traffic Unit, patrol officers, SWAT, Santa Ana Police Department and Seal Beach Police Department, the GGPD SIU investigators served a search warrant at the residence, at the 9700 block of Stanford Ave.

During the search of the house, they located eight gambling machines, a loaded AR-style 9mm fully automatic rifle, cash, and illegal drugs.

A total of 17 subjects were also arrested for a variety of violations including gambling, drug possession, and/or warrants.
