Santa Ana residents, mark your calendars! The city’s Garage Sale Weekend is happening this Saturday and Sunday, December 6–7. This is a great opportunity to sell what you don’t want and earn some cash to buy new holiday gifts.
This special event allows residential properties to hold garage and yard sales without needing a permit.

- Dates: Saturday and Sunday, December 6–7
- Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day
- No permit required during this designated weekend
Garage Sale Weekends occur during the first full weekend of March, June, September, and December, giving residents four opportunities each year to declutter and earn extra cash.
Regulations for residential garage sales include:
- Sales may only occur on Saturday and/or Sunday.
- Sales may begin at 8 a.m. and must end at 5 p.m.
- Items sold may not be displayed on the public sidewalks, parkways, streets or alleys.
- Items sold must be used goods from your household and not purchased for resale.
- Signs may not be posted on telephone poles, public street lights, traffic signs, or on any structure in the public right-of-way. Signs posted illegally will be removed and a fine may be mailed to the responsible party.
- Signs may be posted one week before the sale weekend.
- Signs must be taken down one day after the last date of your sale.
If you are a business or church, you must obtain a Land-use Certificate to conduct an outdoor activity.
