City of Santa Ana
SANTA ANA, Calif., May 7, 2014—The City of Santa Ana announced today the publication of its 2013 Water Quality Report, also known as the annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), which is now available for online viewing and download here. This annual report is designed to help consumers make health-based decisions regarding their consumption of tap water, provide other water related news and information, as well as important water conservation tips to save costs.
“We believe it’s important for Santa Ana residents to learn about the quality of their drinking water and current initiatives that are critical to preserving a reliable water supply for the community,” explains William Galvez, Interim Executive Director of Public Works. Galvez cites the California State Water Project, a backbone of California’s water system, and what’s at stake if upgrades to its water delivery infrastructure are not made.
“The report also provides residents with useful tips to reduce their water consumption and other ways to save money through high-efficiency and water-saving devices,” he continues. “Considering the seriousness of the drought in California and Governor Brown’s call to cut back water use by at least 20 percent, it’s important we all do our part to help conserve water.”
The online Water Quality Report is designed to provide consumers direct access to important information that is easy to understand and navigate. The centerpiece of the report is a comprehensive chart summarizing the City’s year-round testing and monitoring of water in 2013. Also included are details about the sources and quality of water the City delivers to customers, as well as other articles of interest and tips such as facts about reading your water meter, the City’s FOG program, and recent gold medal award.
“We are particularly proud to highlight the City’s prestigious distinction of producing the best tasting and highest quality tap water in the nation,” adds Nabil Saba, Water Resources Manager, City of Santa Ana Water Resources Division. “Earning this recognition year after year validates the stringent standards we set for our tap water, which are above and beyond the drinking water health standards required by both state and federal agencies.”
Santa Ana residents can visit SantaAnaCCR.org to view the information online, print select articles, or download and print their own copy of the entire report. While the City is publishing a limited number of hard copies, which will be available upon request, customers are encouraged to enjoy the convenience of viewing their report online.
To ensure all Santa Ana water customers are aware of the new online Water Quality Report, notices printed on water bills and special bill inserts have been mailed to customers as well as emailed to those who receive ebills. The Water Resources Division has also displayed another round of announcements at 25 bus shelters throughout the city. And for those with smart phones, a quick scan of a special QR code provided throughout the new campaign takes them to the site effortlessly.
