Sweetgreen opened their first Orange County location in Irvine earlier this year and now they will be hosting a ribbon-cutting at their new location in Tustin, on August 22, 2023.
Their Tustin location is at at the Village at Tustin Legacy, located at 15090 Kensington Park Drive. Their ribbon coating will host an opening-day party with live music by O.C.-based musician Brandon Wildish from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will also feature a build-your-own floral bar from Peaches Floral, coffee drinks from White Sparrow Coffee, vegan cookies from The Secret Baker, and salad-themed beaded bracelets from Beadiful Jewelry.
Sweetgreen is a fast casual restaurant that specializes in delicious salads and uses local produce suppliers. They have 160 locations and started when three college students were looking for a healthier way to eat than what they were getting at school.
Offerings include salads such as the Hummus Crunch and Guacamole Greens salads and warm bowls including their Elote Bowl and a Crispy Rice Bowl. They also sell a Hot Honey Chicken Plate that features Blackened chicken, hot roasted sweet potatoes, warm quinoa, kale-cabbage slaw, roasted almonds and hot honey mustard sauce. They also offer a Fish Taco Plate available only in California.
The company has an ambitious goal to become carbon neutral by the end of 2027. To that end they support farmers and producers who participate in regenerative practices—ones that give more to the land than they take away.
For each meal sold on opening day, Sweetgreen will also donate a meal to Food Finders, a non-profit, to help feed needy people in Orange County.
