Yesterday, Malcolm Walker, 30, of Illinois, visited the Apple store at the Spectrum and placed approximately $1,200 in merchandise into an Apple bag he was carrying.
Loss prevention detained him, and the Irvine Police Department’s Spectrum team quickly arrived to assist.
During the investigation, officers found 15 other wireless keyboards and three Pencil Pros in his vehicle. The merchandise, valued at over $5,000, had been stolen from multiple other Apple stores in Southern California.
Under the new provisions of Proposition 36, Walker was charged with PC 666.1(a)(1) (committing theft with prior convictions), a felony. He was also charged with burglary and possessing stolen property.
Walker’s visit to Irvine was cut short, and he was booked into the Orange County Jail with enhanced bail conditions.
The Irvine Police thank the Apple Loss Prevention and Spectrum Security for their great work and partnership!
The Irvine Police tried to warn everyone not to commit crime in Irvine, especially at the Spectrum this holiday season. Walker must not follow them on social media.
