In the past 24 hours (5:30 p.m. on January 16, 2025 to 5:30 p.m. on January 17, 2025), more than 1.9 million people have viewed a video posted on X by “End Wokeness” that alleges to show a staff member of the County of Orange Registrar of Voters committing fraud.
Like videos of ballot processing during the 2020 Presidential General Election, this video of the employee scanning ballots on November 8, 2024, does not show any fraud.
During the past 24 hours, the Registrar of Voters was only contacted by the founder of The Gateway Pundit and a senior misinformation reporter/analyst from NewsGuard Technologies for the truth.
But, more than 2,200 people have commented on the tweet, 60,000 have liked it, and 19,000 have retweeted it. Misinformation spreads fast and wide.
As part of their ongoing commitment to transparency, the Registrar of Voters has posted a statement about the video on their website with links to documents that demonstrate that the video only shows an employee doing their job correctly.
