Earlier today, a young surfer reported his e-bike stolen from under the Huntington Beach Pier, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Fortunately, this wasn’t your average e-bike—it was equipped with a hidden AirTag that tracked its location all the way to Anaheim.

An HBPD officer reviewed surveillance footage and quickly coordinated with Anaheim PD and the victim. Thanks to excellent teamwork, Anaheim officers located, stopped, and arrested the suspect. The e-bike was recovered and safely returned to its rightful owner.

The suspect was booked at the HBPD jail for grand theft, a reminder that crime doesn’t pay.

Tip: You never know when that “easy steal” might come with a tracking device… so don’t steal.

A big thank you to our partners at Anaheim PD for the assist!
