On July 4, 2023, at approximately 12:05 p.m., the Fountain Valley Police Department responded to the intersection of Bushard St. and Columbus Court regarding a serious traffic collision.
An unknown vehicle was traveling north on Bushard St. when it struck a bicyclist who was riding north on Bushard St. in the bicycle lane.
The bicycle rider, a 20-year-old male Huntington Beach resident, was transported to an area hospital with significant injuries. He is currently in critical but stable condition.
The unknown vehicle fled the scene, leaving behind vehicle parts.
Fountain Valley Police Dept. investigators responded to the scene and collected the evidence that was left behind.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014-2019 Toyota Highlander may have been involved in the traffic collision.
