The SAPD is responsible for general law enforcement within the boundaries of Santa Ana. However some County-owned and maintained properties, including flood channels do lie within the boundaries of the City of Santa Ana.

The SAPD will accept responsibility over County-owned bike trails, flood control channels, retention basins, and river channels. The SAPD will enforce general laws, ordinances and regulations including those of the City and the County, within the County-Owned properties.
